In case you haven't seen enough pics of me with a helmet on.
Santa Cruz embodies almost everything Bret and I love in life, rolling green hills, lush landscape, the beach, and strange, strange people. I'm not so much into the carny scene down at the boardwalk or the mid day drunk people along the river, but it is breathtakingly beautiful.

Recently Bret came back from Pittsburgh and told me about a grocery store that has a dry cleaners and a kid care center inside the store. Dry cleaners, that's a great idea! But my heart broke a little when I heard about the child care. Now, I don't have kids and I'm thinking that they're stressful and you're with them all day, yada yada yada, but this means that none of those kids are enjoying the grocery store to the fullest. This must mean that their mom must not be putting them into the cart, finding an abandoned isle and pushing the cart really hard then chasing after it screaming, "MY BABY, MY BABY". Well, come to think of it, my mom might have been the only one to do this, and maybe that's why the grocery store is one of my favorite places.
I laugh now thinking about a 30 year old woman in a grocery store shoving a cart down an aisle with her child in it, but it felt so right when I was 4. There are a lot of things I look back on and realize are VERY unique to my mom. Here's a small sampling...
My mom carried a clown nose in her purse, ya know, just in case we went somewhere that smelt funny, or if one of us was misbehaving, she'd just put it on. no questions asked.
One time she and a friend had to go sell fireworks in Fresno in July (this is as close to Hell as you can get) for a fundraiser for my sports team, so she decided that she should get in a cold shower, FULLY clothed and then go to the booth. sopping wet.
I remember in Junior High and High School I'd be trying to go to bed and my mom would be vacuuming or talking on the phone at midnight, MIDNIGHT.
I love you mom, happy birthday. thanks for teaching me how to get weird.

*I stole the pic from my aunt jill.

God Bless America
While walking home on Inauguration Day I noticed that the waxing salon a couple blocks from my house had a new display in their window...

I laughed out loud, by myself.
p.s. If this post offends you, sorry. Also, If you ever feel the need to enlighten me on social, political, or geographical history and facts, please email me, there is no need to post degrading comments on my happy place on the internet. You have your own blog to do that on.

Who Knew?
Turns out West Oakland is the only place within 25 miles of me that carries small Thai chili peppers.
It also turns out that West Oakland is as scary as all the rumors lead you to believe.

The San Francisco Treat
I think the best thing about the city is the ridiculous amount of parades, specialty stores/restaurants, and museums. Here are some pics of us enjoying all three...
Happy V-Day?
Now we're at a lost, what are we supposed to do if the weather is bad? I've already decorated the house in Kindergarten like Valentine's decorations and exhausted all of my baking. If you have any ideas, please, do tell.
Pointless Story
Bret and I don't argue very much. Pretty much never. This isn't because we don't get mad, ohhh we get MAD, it's because we're both very passive and get very nervous in contentious situations. So we avoid them at all costs. This probably will be detrimental later in our marriage, but right now it's working out fine. However, we had an argument Saturday night, the cause: Thrifty Chocolate Malt Ball Crunch ice cream. Here's how things went down:
3:30pm- Bret and I are in San Jose and we see a RiteAid, we had a conversation about a month ago about how much we would give for the chocolate malt ball crunch ice cream of our youth. I remember this conversation and tell Bret, "PULL IN! PULL IN!". We run in, and their freezer section is empty.
5:20pm- We get home and Bret tells me to find the nearest RiteAid and call to inquire about the ice cream situation. I call, VICTORY, the Oakland store has it, however they close at 6:00pm. We don't talk, we run to the car.
5:40pm- We start getting close to the riteaid and we see some commotion going on. Bret hands me money and tells me to jump out as soon as I get the chance and he'll circle the block. Neither of us have our cell phones, so I get a little nervous when I see that the commotion is 20 police officers all surrounding the RiteAid. We get close and bret tells me to hop out. I get nervous, real nervous. For all I know it's a hostage situation inside, I mean this is Oakland. So I freeze and bret is forced to keep driving, and the fight ensues...
Bret: "GET OUT OF THE CAR"
Whit: "JUST PARK, JUST PARK"
Bret: "There's nowwwhheerree to park, what do you want me to do?"
I start pointing and yelling, probably something like "This will work, just pull over". By this time we're about 7 blocks from the Rite Aid. Finally I yell, "PULL OVER AND GET OUT, YOU GET IT". Bret gets out of the car and starts walking to Rite Aid.
I circle the hood starting to get scared of what might be happening and imagining myself as a 23 year old widow because my husband was shot in Oakland trying to get ice cream and the last thing I said to him was "GET OUT". These thoughts were probably a little exaggerated, but trust me, you would have been thinking the same thing.
Finally I get to the block Rite Aid is on and I see a bike gang of probably 10-12 bikers all parked in front of the 20 police men, I have no clue what is going on, but I pushed my back against the seat of the car (just in case there was a stray bullet, it wouldn't hit me). Then I see Bret standing on the side walk. Empty handed.
RiteAid decided to close at 5:45pm not 6:00pm.

rozier women go to the grocery store a lot.
Today at the grocery store, I saw a beautiful woman with skinny, skinny legs and a bald head.
Today at the grocery store, I wished I was with my beautiful sister with skinny, skinny legs and a bald head.
